07 Apr Former Forest Hill church will become a condo courtyard
The century-old, one-time Deer Park United Church will be transformed a community gathering space and gateway into a new luxury development in Forest Hill by developer Camrost-Felcorp.
Situated on St. Clair east of Avenue Road at Foxbar Road, a grey-blue metal and glass-clad tower will rise on the site of the former church, which will have its stone façade repaired and parts of the roof removed to create an open-air courtyard landscaped with trees and granite benches.
“It’s like a parkette you might say, so it’s open to the public, not just a private space,” says president and CEO, David Feldman, who aptly named this infill project, Blue Diamond, after the precious gem.
“The building is going to sparkle with activity – and the architecture – so the ‘blue’ in the Blue Diamond name is because it’s rare. It’s going to be an iconic building.”
